Tommy Lord is a workaholic writer, and Spike is one of his creations, a gay detective named Rod from a popular series of erotic novels. Sometimes Spike materializes to argue with his creator. It's a trite plot device, but Spike has fun with it.
    Tommy's obsession with his work is hurting his love life.
