Falcon Studios was about to hit a major milestone with the release of The Other Side of Aspen III. It was only one release away from its 100th video. So the Falcon team packed up a bevy of its hottest studs and shipped them off to Aspen to make a two part porno event movie, the third and fourth installment of a popular series. Director John Rutherford pulled out all the stops with this one. This is the first porno I ever saw that opened with a helicopter shot--an impressive feat considering most videos from this genre are taped in somebody's basement.
    With a storyline that's more focused than the first two, Aspen III features a bus load of the early '90s hottest stars. In parts one and two, the gay lifestyle was a mean and sweaty sub-culture. In part three, however, homosexuality has been somewhat domesticated. The primary focus is the troubled romance of Chad Knight and his libidinous live-in lover Johnny Hanson, who just oozes sex appeal.
    Hanson is a popular ski instructor at an Aspen resort who just can't say no to temptation. In an early scene he breaks a dinner engagement with Chad, so he can sneak off for a slutty tryst with smooth bottomed Cort Stevens. On his way home, Hanson picks up a hitchhiker (Cliff Parker), who immediately makes a pass. They pull off to the side of the road for some front seat fornication. This scene is unique because it succeeds at eroticism without featuring any actual penetration shots. Instead we get a lot of deep kissing and the sight of Hanson's beautiful backlit butt humping into Parker's ass.
    Poor Chad. It seems he's one of the few people who doesn't get to enjoy hot, passionate sex with his boyfriend. After Johnny spurns one of his early morning advances, Chad has to resort to a lonely jack-off session while sniffing Johnny's underwear. Chad gets off an awesome load in this scene. Looks like it damn near hits the ceiling!
    The rest of the video follows a group of tourists who ride a bus into town. Tom Steele--surrounded by a group of jaded, disinterested passengers--gets some deepthroat action from Jake Andrews in the opening scene. Jake lets Tom cum all over his face. Steve Alden plays another horny passenger who fucks himself silly in the bathroom of the bus, forcing everyone else to wait in line.
    After his fuck session with Johnny, Cliff Parker comes home and finds his roommates (Ray Butler and Andrew Cole) messing around with his exotic sex toy collection. This leads to some adventurous threeway anal explorations. (The original cut features extreme anal action, but this scene is edited down in the retail version.) Rick Drake gives his ass a sudsy finger fucking in the shower. Carl Erik gives him an enema before fucking his squeaky clean asshole. Then Kevin Dean comes along and fills Rick's mouth with his twelve inch penis.
    The final sex scene goes to Hal Rockland and Danny Somers. Somers, using the umpteenth spelling of his surname, looks hotter than ever here. Then Hal plows Danny's ass doggy style and face-to-face. This scene simply smolders, with plenty of tender kisses from Rockland to take the edge off the smutty action.
    The cliffhanger ending sets up the next installment. Some familiar faces who turn up at the beginning of Aspen III don't partake in any of the action, but they do turn up in Part IV.
